Ahmedabad, in western India, is the largest city in the state of Gujarat. The Sabarmati River runs through its center. 1. B. J. Medical College

Ahmedabad Medical School was created in 1871 and it became affiliated with the Civil Hospital in the city of Ahmedabad. The School had humble beginnings, starting with 14 students who pursued hospital assistant training. In 1879, Sir Byramjee Jeejeebhoy donated Rs.20.000/- and the school was renamed after him as B. J. Medical School. The school grew and became affiliated with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Bombay in 1917. By 1946, the school obtained affiliation with Bombay University and then achieved higher status for itself to become B.J. Medical College, providing diplomas for L.C.P.S.In 1951, The college was affiliated to Gujarat University for its undergraduate courses. The postgraduate courses were affiliated to the Gujarat University in 1956..

Established since 1860, Gujarat College is one of the oldest institutions in the state of Gujarat. 9. Prin. M. C. Shah Commerce College


Prin. M. C. Shah Commerce College was established in 1963 by Vidyabhavan Trust with the name, Navgujarat Arts and Commerce College. Prin. M.C.Shah being one of the founders took up the leadership to make it, and shape it. He was a noble man with able leadership qualities. With his cool reason and long vision, he was ever eager and endeavoring to inculcate high academic values and standards. In 1966 the college was bifurcated into Navgujarat Arts College and Navgujarat Commerce College. Prin. M.C.Shah was the first Principal who continued to hold the post till 1986. After his death in 1996, the College was renamed and Navgujarat Commerce College turned into Prin. M.C.Shah Commerce College.


10. H.K. Arts College


Known as the H.K. Arts College this institution is managed by 155 years old Gujarat Vidyasabha, Brahmchari Wadi Trust. Gujarat Vidyasabha was founded by Sir Alexander Kinlock Forbes an English Officer in 1848. Intially it was known as Gujarat Vernacular Society, it aimed of the development of Gujarat language and literature. Considering Libraries to be basic education and culture it took on the work of translating important books from all disciplines in to Gujarati.
